Barbara Jean Kuulei Palakiko

Barbara Jean Kuulei Palakiko (Kahoalii, Rivera), 79, of Delta Junction Alaska, went home with her loved ones on the morning of April 2, 2022. Barbara, also known as Grams, Tutu, and Aunty Kuulei/Bobbie, was born on January 20, 1943, to Henry Palakiko and Margaret Kamaka Turner in Honolulu, Hawaii.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest M. Rivera Sr, of Delta Junction; sons John H (Daralyn) “Boy” Kahoalii Jr. Of Molokai, Hawaii, Joel (Kala) “Alani” Kahoalii of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Jonathan K. (Eileen) “Fats” Kahoalii of Molokai, Hawaii; and Daughter: Joanna M. (Bradley Sr) Ford of Maili, Hawaii. Brothers Henry Palakiko of Honolulu, Hawaii and John Russelle Palakiko of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; sisters Hattie Ching of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Henrietta Mooneyhan of Delta Junction. She was loved by all 27 of her grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunties, and uncles.

Barbara loved her family more than anything in the world. Family meant everything to her and having everyone over for dinner and playing cards were one of her favorite pastimes. Barbara loved to travel. Every chance she got; she was on that airplane, weather it was going to family reunions, Molokai to relax, or to Las Vegas to “win big”. She was a true explorer at heart, and always ready to go wherever the wind would lead her.

Tutu will be truly missed by all who loved her. She left a huge imprint on all who knew her, and the memories made with her, will last forever. Words cannot express the emptiness we all feel with her gone but we know that we’ll see her and be together again in Heaven.

Per her wishes there will be no funeral service and she will be cremated and taken home to Hawaii to be scattered in the ocean with her family.
