Darrell Reeves was 72 when he departed this life from natural causes. He was born in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Bedford High School in Michigan in 1966. All throughout his life, Darrell loved shooting and archery as he belonged to several gun clubs in Temperance, Michigan. Darrell was a meat cutter and retired from the 942 Laborers Union.
Darrell lived a simple and happy life in Alaska for over 43 years. His days were filled with hunting and fishing, as he was an avid outdoorsman. One thing about him is that Darrell never knew a stranger because they would all become his friends. He is loved by many and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Darrell was preceded in death by his brother Rolland Reeves and is survived by his sister Cindy Holt of Ohio, his nieces Brittany (Sam) Radtke and Amber (Nick) Williams both of Tennessee, nephews Jeff Rudd (Arin) of Michigan and Greg Reeves of Florida, as well as four grand-nieces and two grand-nephews.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to the Alaska State Troopers and EMTs for their assistance, special friends Dolly Botka, Gary Gregory, Rob and Christina Baker, Barb Meyers, Beth and Tom of Uncle Tom’s Tavern in Chitina, Alaska and Clyde and Jojo Waller. Many thanks to the Chapel of Chimes Funeral home.
Darrell was a proud member of the Delta Clearwater Moose Lodge 911 on Jack Warren Road. There will be a Celebration of Life Potluck at the Moose Lodge on Friday June 1 from 3-5:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made in Darrell’s name to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
“He will always be remembered as a great pioneer who left home to live his dream and he will be forever in our hearts.”
