Deborah Lee Diviney "Granny"

Deborah Lee Diviney “Granny” made the decision to pass peacefully in her home on February 6, 2021, surrounded by her family and friends from near and far.

Born January 9, 1943 as Deborah Lee Brooker, she spent her early years raising her children and chasing ‘gators in West Palm Beach, Fla. until moving her family to Alaska in 1978. In 1985, Granny married the love of her life! Dale and Debbie had a love like no other, they were giving, caring and patient. Together they did anything and everything with hard work, kisses and laughter.

This incredible woman was an undeniable force of light, love, strength, warmth and humor that left everyone who knew her better for it. If you have been a resident of Delta Junction in the last 40 years, you know Granny, and you know, you are her family. In her 78 years, she had never met a stranger and made her house a home for anyone who walked in.

She loved her Dallas Cowboys, playing Texas Hold’em, garage saling, caribou hunting, tending to her garden and always cooking for an army! From her elaborate Delta parade floats, her souped up mud boggin’ four-wheelers, her over the top Dallas Cowboy room, her memorable Halloween haunted houses and being the loudest cheerleader at any event, Granny never did ANYTHING half way.

Granny was very active in the Delta Junction community. She was an active member of the Moose Lodge, Chamber of Commerce and Pioneers Club. In later years, she loved to dress up and volunteer as the Easter Bunny and Mrs. Claus, just to see the smiles it would bring to the children of Delta.

She was survived by her husband Dale Diviney; her children, Michael Yearty Sr., Todd Yearty, Tracey Young, Tommy Sauer and Jessica Diviney-Teich; her Grandchildren, Dawn Geest, Shanley Garrett, Steven Young, Heather Yearty, Michael Yearty Jr., Katie Paige, Hunter Sauer, Zoey Teich and Linda Gates; her Great Grandchildren, Sally Mae Geest, Shelby Geest, Jensen Geest and Tripp Brezen; her brothers, Carroll Brooker, Tommy Brooker and Michael Crosby.

She was preceded in death by her father Dink Brooker, mother Margi Pitts and brothers Rene Brooker and Brian Crosby.

A Celebration of Life to be held at the Moose Lodge 911 (2622 Texas Ave, Delta Junction) on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2 p.m.

Just like Granny’s home, all are welcome and encouraged to overeat!
