Flossie Ruth Swanson

Flossie Ruth Swanson, 56 from Kaktovik, Alaska passed away November 14, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Flossie was born September 4, 1965, in Barrow, Alaska to James Avammiq and Frances Gordon Lampe. Flossie married Rick Swanson in 2003.

Flossie worked in construction, security, as a health aide and finally as a telephone line person until she retired in 2016. She was a member of the Lampe Whaling Crew in Kaktovik. Flossie was an avid hunter, fisher and trapper. She loved to travel and easily made friends wherever she went.

Flossie was preceded in death by her father James Avammiq Lampe Sr., mother Frances Gordon Lampe, and her brother James (Sonny) Lampe Jr. Flossie is survived by her husband Rick, siblings; Sandra, Freddie, Charles Chester (CC), Yvonne Numnik Hylton and Yvonne Lampe. Six stepchildren; Jennifer, Jessica, Jonathan, Benjamin, Courtney, and Autumn. Also 13 grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Flossie was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was generous, always there to be a helping hand to family and friends. She is most remembered for her cheerful demeanor, her smile and big hugs.
