Gordon Enoch Moore passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, suddenly from a heart attack. He was 70.
Gordon was born on November 14, 1950, in Newport, Washington. He attended Priest River Lamanna High School. Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Peterson. They were married for 50 years until Kathy’s passing in 2019.
An enthusiastic outdoorsman and adventure seeker, Gordon moved to Alaska in 1981, with his wife Kathy, and three daughters; Paula, Amanda, and Joni Sue. Living in Sitka, he worked as both a diesel mechanic, and then discovered his love of the ocean, where he worked as a commercial fisherman. He and his family later, moved to Soldotna, where he found his true passion, and started his hunting guide business, Moore Alaskan Adventures. This career afforded Gordon the time to spend in the mountains, working alongside his wife Kathy, who was the camp cook. Eventually, Gordon and Kathy moved to Delta Junction, where they lived the past 20-plus years. Gordon was a proud member of the Operating Engineers, Local 302, where he worked until he retired.
Gordon enjoyed talking politics and sharing stories with his “coffee club” friends, they met every afternoon at The Cave in Delta Junction. He also had many friends throughout the community, he believed in helping others when help was needed, kindness and a sense of neighborly responsibility was always Gordon’s way of life.
Gordon is survived by his three daughters; Paula Mills, Amanda Hein, and Joni Sue Hayes. Grandchildren; Justin Leichliter, Dakota Ramsey, Brianna Akers, Mariah Lauzon, Garrett Hayes, and Conner Hayes. Great Grandchildren; Zenoch Akers and Zenaeya Akers; and Sister Sharon Ballard. He was predeceased by his wife Kathy, his father John Moore, mother Evelyn Moore, and brother Randy Moore.
A celebration of life was held on May 15 at The Cave in Delta Junction. Gordon’s daughters and many friends were in attendance.
