The Department of Veterans Affairs will be holding a benefit and claim clinic in Delta Junction on Wednesday, June 12, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Moose Lodge on Jack Warren Road. Special briefings will be conducted 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Service members transitioning out of the military, Veterans and their families are invited to attend.

VA will be onsite to process all benefits claims and prioritize additional services for Veterans. VA will also provide special briefings on key topics, such as disability compensation, pension, educational and career counseling, home loans, and education.

VA says of the over 77,000 veterans in Alaska, only half are taking full advantage of the benefits they’ve earned, leaving millions of dollars of services on the table every year. For example, did you know that Veterans released from active duty after 2012 have no time limitation on their Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits? Or that special monthly pension for Veterans requiring aid & attendance can be used to pay for long-term care that the VA doesn’t cover in full – like assisted living?

Additional clinics are scheduled on June 13 in Fairbanks and other communities around the state on other dates.
