Pastor's Pen by Cliff Henry

One of the biggest faults of many people is talking too much. The more a person opens their mouth, the more likely it is they will say something wrong. The Bible states in James 3:2 that if someone did not offend in word, then they are a “perfect” individual and able to control every part of their body.

Speaking of “verbosity”, here is one of historical interest. President William H. Harrison delivered the longest inaugural address, 9,000 words. It took over two hours to deliver. Unfortunately, the weather was cold due to a northwest wind. President Harrison got sick with pneumonia and died a month into his presidency. Proverbs 10: 19b is right, “but he that refraineth his lips is wise.”

Think about it.
