“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor: that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”
If and when you have the opportunity of traveling via boat upon either a river or the ocean, there is one thing you want for certainty – a good captain! A person’s well-being and life is at stake, for the waters of Alaska are cold and unforgiving to the unwise.
I recently, along with my wife, had the opportunity of a “trip for the day.” We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were comforable in the expertise of our captain. We had an innate state of ease due to this fact. We had no fear of sand bars, dangerous rocks, river bends, and other potential problems associated with river travel. Our minds were free to enjoy the “handy-work of God.”
It is that way for a true believer in Jesus Christ, as well. As the verses above emphasize, the person who has placed their faith and trust in Jesus has the distinct joy of knowing that through his ultimate sacrifice, we can attain Heaven! Jesus is the only “captain of salvation” for all men for there is no other that can take us through the “waters of life” safely to that eternal destination.
I wonder, who or what are you trusting upon to safely deliver your soul from this world to the shores of Heaven?
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5.
Think about it.
