The Bible states in Romans 3:10, “As it is written there is none righteous no not one.” Romans 3:23 further states, “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” There is not one person who has ever lived that has not needed the love and forgiveness of Almighty God, for all are sinners. Until a person truly understands this, they will not see their need of the Savior Jesus Christ. They further will not receive, by faith, the work of Christ on the cross on their behalf and be born again. Thank God for His mercy unto all of us, as Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 states, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (creation); old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” What a joy it is to see a person truly believe in Jesus Christ and have their life changed! There are those who leave the gutter of alcoholism, or the ball and chain of the drug world, still others the physical lure of the flesh with its passions. What a joy it is to see people overcome those sinful vices and gain victory through the overcoming power of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There are more beneficiaries than just those who receive Christ as Savior. Let me illustrate. James Calvert (1813-1892) was a missionary to the cannibals on the Fiji Islands. The Lord blessed his efforts greatly as he shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Most of the cannibals became Christians, including the chief.
Many years after Calvert was gone, an English Earl visited the Fiji Islands and was critical of the people’s conversion to Christianity. He told the Chief he was sorry they had “accepted their story.”
The Chief responded, “See that rock over there? On it we smashed the heads of our victims. Notice the furnace next to it. In that oven we formerly roasted the bodies of our enemies. If it hadn’t been for those good missionaries and the love of Jesus that changed us from cannibals into Christians, you’d never leave this place! You’d better thank the Lord for the Gospel; otherwise, we’d already be feasting on you. If it weren’t for the Bible and its salvation message, you’d now be our supper!”
In every society, the Gospel message produces positive change.
Think about it.
