U.S. Army Garrison Alaska, Fort Greely Family and MWR celebrated “Purple Up Day” April 15 with our military children by painting in the snow outside the Child Development Center. The color purple represents all branches of the military. Army green, Air Force blue, Marine red, Navy blue combined together, creates the color purple.
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, celebrating the important role military children play in the armed forces community. This yearly observance honors the sacrifices military children make for their family, and highlights the resiliency they possess. This year’s MOMC theme is “Military Children and Youth: A Resilient Force in a Changing World".
