Snow Plowing

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for up to nine inches of snow in the Delta Junction area by 4 p.m. Sunday. Intermittent snow today is expected to end this evening as the initial front moves through according to the National Weather Service Forecast Office. A second system is expected to arrive overnight that will produce significant snowfall through Sunday.

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is not scheduled to begin its winter work hours until Sunday, meaning the Delta Station is closed through Saturday according to DOT spokesperson Caitlin Frye. Because of the winter weather, she said personnel are on standby to come in if the snow prediction is accurate and road conditions warrant.

Snow started earlier than normal this year with accumulations beginning almost two weeks ago. Two to three inches of accumulation had been reported prior to today.
