Young Delta artists turned out with their best works of art and showed them to the community Saturday at the Delta Clearwater Moose Lodge. People came and voted for their favorite work of art in four age group categories. The competition was stiff for the People’s Choice awards.  The winners were: 0 to 5 years, Elizabeth Walters, age four, Rainbow. Six to 10 years, Lilah Olson, age nine, Sunlight through the Birches. Eleven to 14 years, Lydia Olson, age 11, Sunset. Fifteen to 18 years, Cadence Wilkins, age 17, Innocent Exile.

Each winner received a gift card for Michaels. In addition to the remarkable art on display, members of the Delta Arts Guild who teach art provided opportunities for young people to make and take home original artworks. Kina Mitchie provided paint and canvas guidance and encouragement for each artist as they produced an original work. Nancy King provided opportunity and materials for chalk designs of northern lights. Nick Marchuk’s northern lights photos were the perfect visual aid for that project. Leah Byam presented hard core inspiration and materials as artists created amazing rock-based art. Missouri Olson demonstrated and applied face paint to every face presented to her. Unique artwork, indeed. She also provided us all with exotic photo prop opportunities.
