The Delta Huskies hosted the Lathrop Malemuts Friday for a well fought evening of high school basketball. The girls opened the varsity games struggling after Lathrop opened up an 18-point lead in the first half. Delta rebounded in the second, holding Lathrop to seven while putting eight on the board. The second half was too much for the Huskies with Lathrop winning 64-16.

Andrea Solla let the Huskies with eight, followed by Hannah Helkenn with five.

The boys fared better taking a 20-12 lead by the end of the first half. Lathrop matched the Huskies point to point in the second period reducing the Huskie lead by two for a halftime score of 35-25, Huskies.

The third period was not good to the Huskies as the Malemuts outscored them 15-5, resulting in a tie at 40 at the end of the period. The Huskies came out strong in the final period, outscoring the Malemuts 15-9 to finish with a win, 55-49.

Austin Durham scored 15 for the Huskies, followed by Maksim Kilimnik with nine, Jason Montes and Omar Powers with eight, Drenen Magee with seven, Ben Bialik with six, and Ryan Zarecki with two.

The Huskies host the Eielson Ravens today beginning with JV action at 2:30, followed by girls varsity at 4, and the boys finish up the evening with a 5:30 start time.
