Delta High School (DHS) Big Dog

Coming off a weekend of cancelled games against Tri-Valley, Delta brought home a 2-0 win over Birchwood Thursday evening in a fierce rainstorm. Kaylee Vert and Jacob Karovnik each scored a goal against Birchwood.

Friday night Delta took on Lumen in a match Coach Dave Schmidt referred to as “ugly.”

“I could not be more proud of my players, their behavior and response to some very disrespectful attitudes on the field.”

Saturday morning Delta took on Our Lady of the Valley to end a long road trip. After two games in two days, Delta started off slow and was down 3-1 before coming back to end in a 3-3 tie. Senior Mareclo Castillo scored all three goals for the Huskies with outstanding hustle from Jacob Larovnik, Avenea Shestopalov, and Matthew Lawnhourne.

Schmidt said the Huskies got another outstanding performance during the weekend by sophomore keeper Zander Stossmeister.

Everyone is encouraged to join our hometown Huskies on Thursday September 2 for a 6 p.m. game as the Huskies will host Cook Inlet Academy.

Prior to the beginning of the game the Delta Junction area first responders will be honored.
