After a fast and furious six weeks, the track and cross country season at Delta Junior High School has ended.

The team kicked off the season with impressive track and field performances and finished the season with three cross country races held at Chena Lakes Recreation Area, at home on the Liewer Trail, and at UAF. At each race the Delta team put in strong efforts and brought home several ribbons.

At the home race held September 17 on the Liewer Trail the girls team swept the top five with Izzy Baker taking first, Clarissa Perez in second, Reagan Pearson in third, Melody Anderson fourth, and Megan Phelan taking fifth. Delta placed two athletes in the boys race, Jacob Satterberg took second and Michael Santiago took fourth.

While it is a short season, every athlete on the team made impressive improvements in their running strength and speed which will carry over as these athletes move on to different sports throughout the winter.

DJHS and the coaches extend the warmest thanks to the many parents and volunteers who donated their time and resources to support the team throughout the season, to those who helped prepare meals for the traveling team, and to those whose assistance ensured a successful race during our home event.
